The Dormot Pro line covers all four ATEX zones: Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21 and Zone 22. Engineered and certified per case under IECEx 60079 and EU Directive 2014/34/EU.
The Dormot Pro line is engineered against the four zone definitions in IEC 60079-10. Selection depends on the gas or dust group, temperature class, and ambient conditions of the installation.
An area in which an explosive atmosphere of flammable gas or vapour is likely to occur in normal operation. Protection method: Ex db (flameproof) or Ex db eb (flameproof with increased-safety terminal box).
An area in which an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does, will exist for a short period only. Protection method: Ex ec (increased safety).
An area in which a combustible dust cloud is likely to occur in normal operation. Protection method: Ex tb (protection by enclosure, dust ignition).
An area in which a combustible dust cloud is not likely to occur in normal operation, and if it does, will persist only briefly. Protection method: Ex tc (dust ignition, less stringent).
Three frameworks apply, depending on installation territory and end-customer requirement. All three are addressed in the Dormot Pro engineering dossier per order.
International standard for equipment in explosive atmospheres. Recognised globally. The default certification path for Dormot Pro motors operating outside the European Union or where multiple regional standards apply.
The ATEX directive applicable within the European Economic Area. Required for placing equipment on the EEA market for use in explosive atmospheres. EU type-examination certificate via a notified body.
Where a Dormot Pro motor is installed on a classed vessel in a hazardous-area zone, the class society type approval is required in addition to ATEX/IECEx. Type-approved by BV, LR, DNV, ABS, RINA and ClassNK per case.
Application zone, gas/dust group, temperature class, ambient. Output: dossier with applicable directives and target certificates.
Frame, pole count, IP, protection method (Ex db / db eb / ec / tb). Standardised options where possible; custom engineering where the application requires it.
IECEx 60079 baseline + EU 2014/34/EU + class society type approval where the installation is shipboard. Documentation pack assembled per order.
Build under controlled QA. Routine test per IEC 60034. Final inspection and assembly of certification pack. Lead time 6–10 weeks for typical Pro/ATEX configurations.
